On November 15, 2024, AirAsia X (AAX), Southeast Asia’s leading low-cost carrier, marked a significant milestone by launching its first direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi, Kenya. This new route positions AAX as the sole airline from Malaysia and the only low-cost carrier in the ASEAN region to offer direct connectivity to Kenya’s capital.

Flight D7 101 departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and was warmly received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by a delegation led by Hon. Peninah Malonza, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage. The inaugural flight achieved a passenger load factor exceeding 70%, reflecting strong demand for this new service.

Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating, “We are excited to launch our new direct route to Nairobi. This is a major milestone in our mission to connect Asia with Africa and opens up a world of travel possibilities between the two continents.”
